Changing weather pattern?

Above is the 18z GFS model 264 hour map at 500 mb. 18z means 1 PM data, so this is the latest long range prognostication. It has about a 10% chance of even coming close to being somewhat correct. But, I am excited about it because it shows some strong trend away from what has been consistant in the models of late. However, I am only slightly excited as I know it is wrong. Let's see what we are thinking Friday when I make my fourth update on the evolving pattern. The map shows the jet stream plowing into the west coast and the entire pattern is massively realigning.
Everything else is going well. I did get the link to the David Letterman bit he did on me last week. Go to the following address:

to see how we showed it on the air.

Hi! Gary, I hope you mean there will be more snow in the forecast. I know how you love snow. I really like the idea of the plush Windy and Stormy. It is for a great cause. I have a four year old Lab-Border Collie mix. I'm glad I was able to give her a good home. If you ever have a chance. Windsor Elementry School in Windsor, Missouri would sure like a visit from Windy or Stormy. I have really enjoyed you being in Kansas City. I hope for many more. Take Care, Lisa
Lisa,
My schedule is almost booked for the rest of the school year, but you should have someone email me a request for the school visit.
I am still uncertain on the winter forecast but it is coming together.

Hey Gary, congrats on hitting your 3 degree warranty 24 days in a row! Accurate as always, one of the reasons I love the NBC Action News Weather Team. You said this is your 2nd longest streak since you've been doing the 3 degree warranty. When was the longest streak, and how many days in a row did you nail it? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you can beat the old record...good luck (though I know you don't need it! :-)
We are up to 26 in a row as the streak continues. Two summers ago we had a streak 37 days long. We are getting closer.
