Back from NY!

Well, of course the WEATHER affected our trip to New York City! Isn't that fitting? ;)

There were high wind warnings in effect yesterday for NYC... and wind gusts to 50 mph at LaGuardia! That meant delays up to THREE hours! Our flight got cancelled alltogether! We were supposed to leave at 11:30am, but we didn't get home until midnight.

I didn't mind all the waiting, though, as I got to read my new book. It's called "Marley and Me," and it's all about a yellow lab named Marley. It's a really good read... I only have a few chapters to go! And it really reminds me of Mags! Gary did such a nice thing to watch her while we were gone! And from the looks of those pictures he posted... she had tons of fun! :)

Anyway, this was my first trip to NYC, and it was amazing! We did a LOT... as there is so much to do and see there! One of my favorite moments from the trip was seeing a Broadway show. We saw "Dirty Rotten Scoundrals"... it was really funny!

I also LOVED Times Square... so much energy there!! Here is a picture that my husband took:

Another one of my favorite moments was going to the Today Show! We stood outside on Rockefeller Plaza for three hours... in the cold... all for maybe 15-20 seconds on the show! Here is the sign we made... did anyone get to see us?

Not only were we on TV... but Matt Lauer also shook my hand! :) That was pretty cool. When he and Katie came outside, I yelled to him, "Hey, Matt... I went to Ohio University!"... knowing that he also went there! He came over and shook my hand, and said, "Go Bobcats!" and asked me what year I graduated. I told him... and he said, "Man, I'm old!" as he grabbed his heart and pretended to faint! :) Here is a picture of him doing just that:

And here is another shot of him with Katie:

NBC Studios are in Rockefeller Plaza... where the famous outdoor ice skating rink is:

We walked down to Battery Park, and saw the Statue of Liberty from there (it was WAY too chilly to jump on a ferry!)

And while we were down there, we went to Ground Zero:

And we also went out to the Bronx to see Yankee Stadium (my husband is a HUGE baseball fan):

Overall, it was a GREAT trip!! But it is good to be home, too! :)

Looks like a lot of fun Jamie! Does Katie look older in person? Okay, is the big storm coming this weekend or not?????????????

Thanks,
Tim

TIM:
Hi, Tim! It's funny you ask that question... we were all commenting on how much *younger* she looks in person after we saw her! And she and Matt were VERY nice. I was just bummed Al wasn't there... he was in LA for the Golden Globes... :(

The storm is still showing up for Friday/Friday night. Right now it looks like it will start as rain/freezing rain/sleet... and then mix with and possibly change over to snow Friday evening. Accumulations don't look great, but Gary will have the update tonight at 10pm!! :)

Hi Jamie, I hope you had a lot of fun. Great pictures!!! There was a lot of stuff to do there wasnt there. Im sure you are glad to see Mags again. That was pertty cool that you got to meet Mat. Just wondering if this storm that you are tracking for Friday affect the southern viewing areas. Could we have a wintery/mix situation down near the southern viewing areas?
John

JOHN:
Thanks, we did have a wonderful time in NY! I was pretty amazed at how busy the city is... always something going on! :)

The storm we are tracking looks like it will affect most of the area. We could see rain, sleet, or snow. We're right on the edge of the transition zone... so it is a really tough forecast. But right now, it does not look like we will see much snowfall accumulation. Gary will have an update at 10pm. And I will try to answer your email (for your project) over the weekend, too.

Jamie,
I read the book Marley and Me too and LOVED it! It made me laugh harder than any other book I've read in a long time, and it also made me cry. I'm so glad you enjoyed it too!

MARLINA:
It's funny... ever since I got Mags, I've had 3 or 4 people recommend the book to me! It must have been a sign! So, I took advantage of our airport delay to finally read it! I, too, LOVE it! I have laughed a lot and have also gotten teary. I only have a few chapters left!! :)

Hey was just wondering about the storm that you did have for Sunday night into Monday morning what has happened to that. Is it going to go to far south, and if it does will Appleton City see any precip from it? Rain, Snow , or Sleet?

DANIEL:
Right now that storm is lacking moisture. So we took the chance of precip out of the forecast. We'll still watch it, though.
