SNOW BY MORNING?
We are very busy tonight. The latest data has a strong upper level storm developing and tracking just south of Kansas City. Look below at the noon Tuesday 500 mb flow. There will likely be significant snow somewhere, but the bullseye will likely be just south and southeast of KC. And, there may be a problem with it staying as all snow. If it does then 6 inches or more could fall in a few spots. Areas north of Kansas City have much less of a chance of any precipitation at all out of this. More tomorrow.

I'm in Lee's Summit and at 2:25 PM we have 1.25" of snow which is on top of about 1/8" of sleet. I agree with your trend theory and believe we'll get a significant event around Jan. 24th. By the way, I was the one who told Jamie about your Weatherwise pic. Keep up the good work GARY.

Gary,
I hadn't seen the picture in Weatherwise until Jamie called me and told me about it. Thank you so much!

Hey Gary just was gonna let you know we got some heavy sleet this morning and around 930 started to get some HEAVY snow it has all almost melted. Was just wondering when the last of the snow will be at Appleton City and will there be any accumulations? Also does it still look like there will be another storm later this week, rain or snow?
Daniel,
Thank you for the report. This storm is just about over and I don't expect much more for you. Friday's storm is now faster and not as impressive. But, watch out for early next week.

Gary - 1 inch at the Jacomo Ranger station - nice fall of sleet and rain earlier this AM - haven't checked the rain-gauge. BTW, what is "Troweling"? The upper-air maps I copy from the SPC's interactive Weather Tools showed very-impressive signatures for upper-air 500 mb flow on this one - I think if it had moved slower and tapped the Gulf into our area, could have been very interesting - ah well...
You mention next week - would that possibly be about Monday? We'll see!!! Haven't checked the GFS yet (2000).
Cheers,
Dog

Gary,
At this point are you expecting the storm on Monday and Tuesday to bring minor or more significant snow/rain fall? Thanks and keep up the good work!
RYAN:
It is still too early to tell. We will get a better feel for it over the weekend. Stay tuned.

DANIEL:
It is still too early to tell. We will update the forecast as we get new data in over the weekend.
