« Light snow this morning! | Main | Close.... but.... »

What's next?

TODAY'S NUMBERS:
HIGH: 36
LOW: 32

So snow amounts were definitely on the light side around HERE... not the case to our north and west! Here is a look at where the heaviest snow fell:

Do you believe parts of Nebraska actually got 30 inches of snow??!! Again, had the storm tracked just 100-150 miles farther SOUTH... that would have been OUR snow!! (or at least our viewing area's snowfall!) Metro snow-lovers must feel cheated! ;) We offically got 1" at KCI, with reports of up to 2" north of there.

So what is ahead? Well... first of all... we should see the return of SUNSHINE for Wednesday! Expect a mix of sun and clouds, and temperatures will be warmer, with highs in the mid-40s. There is also another system entering the Plains tomorrow. You can see it on the NAM 500mb below (it is over West Texas):

Some parts of Western Kansas... that already got a good snowfall... will likely see more out of this system:

It would be a light snowfall for them... just a few inches. But as that storm heads our way... most of the energy will go to our south. Sooooo we will likely miss out again! We might see a few clouds, but that would be it.

Expect more clouds on Friday, too, as a backdoor cold front moves in! Here is the NAM bringing in the 850mb moisture:

It looks like Friday will bring the return of colder temperatures, too... with highs only in the 30s under those mostly cloudy skies!

Now can I say how awesome our viewers are? You guys are the best... thank you for all the wonderful comments/emails over the past 24 hours!! We appreciate you so much!! And to those of you who reminded me... I officially changed my last name on the blog! Yeay! :)
Hope you have a great night!

So how does Saturday morning look?
My son has gotten in one soccer game in three weeks. He's a little anxious to get playing.
Thanks.

KIM:
Saturday morning looks great right now. A little chilly... but at least dry. Good luck to your son!! :)

Gary, Jamie, and the rest of the crew,

You guys always take a lot of heat for supposedly getting the forecast wrong, but the numbers speak for themselves. You consistently get it right more often than anyone else! You guys are my go-to crew. When I think weather, I think of you.

If you get a chance, please check out this site that was forwarded to me. These are pics of a rainbow over Missouri and are the most stunning I've ever seen. Note the "do not use without permission" statement at the bottom, but still worth checking out.

Jamie: My wife LOVES your outfits, but they are way too conservative for me. Who would you rather please, her or me? :-)

Great job, everyone. Keep up the good work.

Jeff in Olathe

JEFF:
Hey, thanks for posting and for the nice comments! I didn't see a link, though... can you try to post it again? The pictures sound amazing!!

Tell your wife thank you for the clothing compliment! I try to keep it professional... wearing suits everyday. Sometimes during the morning cut-ins to the Today Show, I am a bit more casual. But for a newscast... I just feel like I need to be more formal. :)

Jamie - Kudos to everyone this week, nice job.
This is kind of off the subject but how about some updated pics of Mags? Bet she is getting big! I have a MaltePoo and Miniature Schnauzzer that found a baby bunny under my deck. They are muddy now all the time! That is ok - because we needed the moisture. Looking forward to some sunshine! Great Job!

LYNN:
Thanks for the nice comments! I will try to post some Mags pictures either later today or tomorrow. She is getting big... she celebrated her 6 month birthday this week... and is about 55 pounds!! :) That is so sweet that your dogs go down to play with the baby bunny! Are they gentle with it? You should try to get a picture of that!

Here is the link to those rainbow pictures another poster mentioned. I was reading this blog right as an e-mail with this link came in my inbox. What a coincidence!

Hi Jamie!!! Be sure to watch Mags diet - we are using a large breed weight control, which Lab/Lab mixes need, since they want to eat anything and everything - Parker eats cucumbers, squash etc... and that is not a bad choice - low cal etc... check with your vet.

As to the weather, alas, KC has been so boring, as to what has actually occurred here, but March 12th was the exception. However, we had .25" March 11th and .64" won't solve our moisture debt but it certainly helps - hope we can get some more the next few months, in a timely manner - that would be nice. Oh well, who knows??? I really believe global warming is screwing up our weather, and we really, really need to get off oil (especially middle-east) or elsewhere, and go to alternative sources of energy. Unfortunately, it won't be this admin. with its oil ties, and I don't really see the opposing party offering any strong direction in energy alternatives. It's easy to criticize, but offering a solution is easy. And this from a liberal
Independent... Look at Brazil, a Military Hunta in 1975 decided to force a change, and now they are 75% independent of foreign oil - makes one wonder, doesn't it???

H-m-m-m-mm-m.

Dog

HEY DOG:
We are also using the weight control formula... mixed with puppy formula at the moment. Once this mix runs out... we will be strictly weight control! Can I ask what your dog likes to chew on? Mags is so werid that she is picky when it comes to rawhide chews. She won't touch one for days... and then suddenly she loves it. Is there something in particular that Parker likes? I am going to post some new pictures of her in a minute.

I am also totally buying a hybrid car the next time I get one!
