Hit & Miss
Good morning!
Showers and thunderstorms moved through the area again this morning... but they were scattered, so not everyone saw rain. Right now, the last of the shower activity is moving out of the eastern viewing area. Here is what ESP looks like as of this writing... just click on the image to see the most CURRENT ESP picture:

Yesterday, we went to a cookout at our friends' house in De Soto, Kansas. There were some pretty good downpours there as thunderstorms came through between 11am and 3pm. Here is a look at some area rainfall amounts through this morning:

You can see the hit-and-miss nature of the thunderstorm activity. The highest report of rain I have seen is over 3" in Ottawa, KS... and notice that some places did not receive anything at all!
Anyway, Mags met a new friend at our cookout yesterday... a black lab named Flo. They had a good time playing in the pond after it rained!

Have a good day, and send us your rainfall report if you are lucky enough to get some rain today!
Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie, we had 2" in the rain guage at the Desoto Football stadium this morning when we arrived. Good soaking for the grass.
JOHN:
Thank you so much for the report! I had a fun time in DeSoto, desipte the rain. You definitely need it there... the pond our dogs were playing in was extremely low!

Jamie,
I live out in Gardner Kansas and yesterday we had 1.53 inches of rain. At one point the rain was coming down at 5.25 inches a hour.
BRYAN:
That is pretty amazing. I saw a report of 4.3" in an hour and a half in Clifton, KS... Kansas definitely beat Missouri in terms of rainfall totals! Let's see if we get another shot to play today!

Jamie,
In south Overland Park (147th & Antioch), all we got was 0.11.

DAVE:
Sorry you didn't get more, I know you need it in OP. The front won't be through until Wednesday night, so we still have a couple more chances of rain!

Good Morning, Jamie & Gary
Well..here in Leawood yesterday it was tough watching that wall of water marching across Eastern Kansas and just wither as it crossed I35. We picked up about a 10th of an inch. Amazing watching the hit and miss amounts on these thunderstorms..some areas picking up 4"+ and others getting dust spattered ( reminding me of my drives through the desert southwest during moonsoon season ). Let's see how this next complex sets up and the trajectory towards KC, as it seems this event is sporadic so far with a lot of directional storm lines in these complexes..hoping for more general rains the next 48 hours. Do I see us heating up next weekend???
Robert
Robert,
It doesn't look good for any organized activity. A few thunderstorms may form so let's see what happens.
It does look HOT!

We had some pretty good downpours in eastern Independence yesterday around 1:00, although I don't have a rainfall total for you. What are you expecting today in terms of rain and/or severe weather?
KATIE:
We are in the "Slight Risk" for severe weather... but I don't think we'll see a ton of it today. There is a chance of thunderstorms later this afternoon and evening... but we are pretty much in a "Now Casting" situation, so Gary will have an update later today!
