Hot Enough for Ya?
TODAY'S NUMBERS:
HIGH: 94 (NEW RECORD HIGH!)
LOW: 70
We did it, we set a new record high for today.

We could come close to breaking a record again for Sunday, as the current record is 92... and we will likely be in the lower 90s... something to watch!
That thunderstorm complex we were tracking last night came AWFULY close to hitting the Metro! Take a look at where the rain fell on our doppler estimate below:

There was a report of thunder at KCI, but no measurable precipitation fell. Up in St. Joseph, you did pick up .15". Lawrence picked up .03"... and Topeka had .06".
Sunday will be another windy, hot and humid day.... as will Monday. We are still watching a cold front for Tuesday into Wednesday. This front will bring the chance of thunderstorms... here is what it could look like by Tuesday evening:

The exact timing of rain chances are still in question, but confidence is increasing. AND if you don't like the HOT weather... hang in there! The front will also drop temperatures quite a bit. We will be in the lower 80s for the end of the week!
Hope you are having a GREAT weekend!!!!!!

Gary/Jamie....I noticed 41.2 showing up on my TV guide...it says coming June 12th Weather extra....what exactly will you be showing on it? Just a replay of an earlier weathercast?
Thanks
Chris
CHRIS:
Good observation!! I am going to leave that for Gary to answer next week. It is an exciting addition to NBC Action Weather! Stay tuned! :)

Jamie - How lovely - it is like a sauna out there!!! I will be in my wait and see mode, but as I work through Monday, I have Tue-Fri off (thank goodness), perhaps I will get lucky and have something during my days off (see Day-3 ACUS and Day 4-8 ACUS (Convective Outlooks). At least it MAY be something - we'll see. Sounds like the Dakotas would be interesting this evening from the sounds of the MCD issued earlier.
PS I can't see people camping in this heat, but they do!!! My idea of roughing it is a nice air-conditioned motel room, when and if I travel!!!
Dog
HEY, DOG:
I know... sweltering! We took Mags to the dog park today... (and I insist on wearing jeans to the dog park bcs we go back in the wooded areas...) boy was I hot! AND it was before noon... sheesh!
But all the dogs just LOVED jumping in the lake! :)
I really hope we get some rain out of this front. It is a slow mover, right now the best bet looks like Tuesday night.

Jamie:
Maybe you can answer this question and maybe not. My friend and I were debating this while we were baking in the sun today. When it is as hot outside as it was today, do you really get a sunburn faster than when it's say in the 70s or 80s, or does it just feel like you burn faster due to the heat? I say you do, but my friend argued that it's the same amount of sunlight, so you shouldn't burn faster. Thanks and have a great evening!
HI, WINDI!
Thanks for writing in! Acutally, your friend is right... it doesn't matter what the temperature is... the sun's rays are the same. It may feel like you are buring faster, yes, 1) because it is HOT and 2) because the sun's rays ARE getting stronger as we head into summer! Stay cool, and don't forget the sunscreen! :)
