Nearly 5 inches in Warrensburg!
Brad in Warrensburg just updated us and in Johnson county, Missouri they are now nearly up to 5 inches of rain with the additional 2 inches this morning.
Thunderstorms may pop up within the next few hours, but the spinning disturbance is just east of Kansas City. Tropical torrential downpours. I can't believe it.
Hopefully these thunderstorms will form soon. If you get under one of these you will get one inch of rain in less than a half hour.
We are going into northwest then north flow aloft during the next three days. There is a chance of a disturbance riding south this weekend to bring us a few thunderstorms.

Hello Mr. Lezak,
Do you see the chance of any organized t-storms or just pop up t-storms? When do you think the chance of storms goes down.
Ben,
There will be some organization as they are forming around an upper level system two counties east of Kansas City. But, they won't move very fast and you better be underneath one.
There is still a threat again tomorrow as the moisture doesn't go very far with the winds staying so light.

I really appreciate your blog and check it regulalrly for the scoop on weather. however, I have to go to another stations website for a better radar.
Things like zooming in, auto-updating and looping several frames are nice features.
Jeff,
We are working on getting these features on our website.

Mr. Lezak,
As of 2pm, it appears the storms will not hit us (current storms are moving NE away from KC). Do you see anything that indicates storms may still form SW of us? Thanks.
Kris Wells
Kris,
Well, it is obvious now, but we got hit. They formed north and northwest of us as they rotated around the weak storm that tracked north across western Missouri.

Good Afternoon, Jamie, Gary
Promising skies!! at 2pm here in Leawood, the Cumulus Congestus is gathering..to the west towards Lawrence there is towering Cumulonimbus, the air is sultry and radar is showing activity forming northwest of KC with a southeast movement trend. Let's hope this develops into an active afternoon and these storms put down good soaking rains here in KC finally!!
Robert
Robert,
I think you got hit around 5:30 PM today! Finally!

Well, it is 4:52 here in Gardner and we are getting a torrential downpour. Within a couple minutes of the rain starting the streets etc. were flooding. Lots of big thunder and lightening. Can we get a rain measurement for Gardner tonight? I know we are going to get well over an inch with this!
Erin,
Gardner is up to 1.58" of rain since Monday!

Gary,
NWS needs to update their forecast. THey only have a 40% POP and here in Overland Park it has been raining for the last half hour! Radar shows a number of storms moving through the area! I tell you what, I am not sure what you do, but your forecats are very accurate compared to the NWS. Keep up the good work, I wll depend on you for my forecasts WAY before NWS!
Thanks,
Brian - Overland Park
Brian,
Thank you for noticing. We went for a very good chance of thunderstorms today and it is nice to see it verify! I had an 80% chance of thunderstorms on the radio (Newsradio 980 KMBZ and 106.5) this morning so the pressure was on.

Yay we got a little bit of rain today and im not gonna complain even though it was pretty light and didnt last that long. Is that storm just southeast of the city going to affect Appleton City it looks like its coming right for us but so did last nights storm before it just fizzled. Any chance of that happening with this one. Thanks
Daniel,
The thunderstorms fizzled just west and north of you again. Amazing.

gary, can you send me a care package up here or something, maybe a glass of rain? I didn't get a SINGLE DROP! here in trenton over the past few days. it's SOOO frustrating to see the radar show areas to my south getting nearly half a foot of rain, and we've got cracks in the ground big enough up here to swallow small dogs.
here's hoping for anything soon.
Glen,
Today, you should have been hit. That upper level system was heading right towards you. I can't believe it didn't make it.
This is just a bad pattern. Let's try to get through it together.

Here in Leavenworth we got about .5 to .75 of rain today. it came down hard for a short period of time.
Do you expect the storm complex out towards salina to hit us later on tonight?
Ben,
The last disturbance in this series passes through tomorrow morning. We'll see what happens, there is no inflow to keep it alive.

Wow this is driving me insane. Why does this keep happening and it looks like storms developed just south of here.
Daniel,
Very frustrating!

Oh the irony! The day I don't bring my umbrella to work with me is the day we get a torrential downpour, right when it's time to go home! =) I guess that's why they say be careful what you wish for. But we did need the rain, so I won't complain too much. Keep up the excellent work!
Mandie,
Sometimes it is good to get connected with Mother Nature and get a little wet.
