The first thunderstorm has developed
Good evening, I am about to go on the air in a few minutes with a weathercast explaining how we will very likely have thunderstorms in the morning. We are in an ideal spot to have at least scattered thunderstorms, and if they are more organized there is a chance of an MCS (Mesoscale convective system). I am not sure yet, but it looks like it will be a bit more organized between 4 and 8 AM. The cold front will sag through during the day with a chance of additional showers or thunderstorms, but the best chance appears to be during the morning on Wednesday.

Gary, I'm not trying to compare your team to another team on the air, but another person is saying the models are a dud for rain tonight and tomorrow.. I'm curious what your confidence is in the forecast for storms? This person, I'll call them X, did not explain their position. And, I am curious as to what they could have seen in the forecast to come up with that conclusion.. Thanks
DAVE,
WE HAVE TO TEST OURSELVES EVERY TIME. WHEN WE PASS THE TEST, THEN TOMORROW WE GET TESTED AGAIN. AND, IF WE MISS ONE FORECAST THEN ARE WE FOREVER BAD? JEFF PENNER ALWAYS SAYS WHEN WE ARE RIGHT WE ARE WRONG AND WHEN WE ARE WRONG WE ARE WRONG.
I AM NOT SURE WHICH FORECAST YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. BUT, IF YOU WATCHED OUR FORECAST TONIGHT ON NBC ACTION NEWS I POINTED OUT THE REASONS FOR MY CONFIDENCE. IT COULD BE JUST ONE BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS OR A COMPLEX BUT CONFIDENCE IS HIGH THAT WE WILL GET SOMETHING.

Bring on the rain. I would love to have a good old Kansas City thundershower to fall asleep too, but since its not raining now, I will take an overnight one. I know who Dave is talking about!!! (shaking head)
Keri,
It is 5:34 AM and here they come. A nice line of thunderstorms for everyone early this morning. i am about to be on Newsradio 980 KMBZ and 106.5. Exciting!

Gary,
We live up in the Shoal Creek area of KC. I just brought the dog out (you'll be happy, we adopted her from a shelter three weeks ago) and I could hear some rumbling in the distance and some flashes to the north. I'm not sure about the other weather forecasts, but you can sure see it coming.
Matt,
We may get a second round of thunderstorms later on.

Gary, you were right on man I watched a 9 o'clock forcast and he said it would turn south once the mcs formed and go towards the higher humidity. I will never second guess you. good job

THANKS FOR WATCHING!

The thunderstorms were sure nice today. How does Breezy handle thunderboomers?
Jeff,
Breezy doesn't seem to be affected which is a good thing. Windy has always been petrified. Stormy is somewhere in the middle.

Gary, I was not comparing you to this other person on another station. I am just excited about getting storms and when they said "the models are wrong" I was wondering on your speculation how they might come to that conclusion. I fully understand, as I've written before that I know it's impossible to be 100% accurate on forecasting weather. And you guys are by far my absolute favorite station to watch. And btw, this other forecast guy was dead wrong last night because we got a nice storm this morning in Grain Valley! yea!
DAVE:
GLAD YOU GOT SOME RAIN!

I need 2 days of no rain to get my fertilizer with weed killer down.... any chance there's even close to a 2 day of dry weather window on the way?
Carrie,
It should be dry Friday afternoon through Sunday. But, this weather pattern could produce some light rain at any time in the next 72 hours.
