T-Storms are developing
Good evening,
Thunderstorms developed around noon near Salina, and now they are slowly marching this way. It could be an exciting evening, but this is really a strange set up. It would be nice to get a heavy thunderstorm. The threat of any severe weather is small. But, there could be some small hail.
More later. Watch the shows and we will try to blog later.

Gary - These storms in KS seem to be pulse type storms and are not moving very quickly; when do you believe they will be in Harrisonville, MO?
Robert,
You should have had a couple of good downpours. The heaviest went just south of you.

It looks like the storm south of Ottawa is stationary... Hope they move right of the city tonight! Sweeeet (in hopefull happy mode)
Dave,
At least it rained. But, once again we are left a bit disappointed.

I'm getting a little frustrated. No sooner than I had read this mornings blog about the thunderstorms falling apart and the forcast for dry weather do I leave my office to find it lightening and rain pouring down. What's up? Two days in a row these thunderstorms seem to have caught everyone off guard.
Dwight,
No, it didn't catch us off gaurd. If you read the blog closely I said it will be close. And, it is. Most areas only got some light rain, so my pessimism was justified. Areas south of here got hit pretty good.
I am sorry that I took you on my emotional ride.

I can't believe how close the storms are now and based on the latest radar loop - are they moving southeast away from us?!? If so, it is totally unbelievable. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm headed out to turn the sprinkler system back to run in the AM - SIGH.
Bobby,
We just barely missed this one tonight. Although we are getting a nice 1/10th of an inch.

I am in Olathe and saw you report only .12" of rain for us. I know we had much more than that at my hous ein Olathe near the courthouse as it rained for at least 3 hours and a lot of it was down pouring rain.
Tonight it is totally missing us here. Typical storms here for us!
Leonard,
Olathe is now reporting 0.26" so far this evening.

How is tommrow shaping up? Could we se more heavy rain?
thanks
Matt,
The front will likely be ill defined and if it is the threat of rain is quite small.

Daniel,
The thunderstorms have just begun to weaken. But, you should get some nice rain.

Good Evening, Jamie & Gary
This is truly getting ridiculous, I watched yet AGAIN, an impressive looking complex this afternoon over Emporia come up I35 and literally..literally stop at the Miami/Johnson county line, turn and weaken to mostly virga and produce moderate rain 5 - 10 miles southeast of Leawood and sprinkle here. Gary...i'm with you man..pure frustration, as I watch yet another rain chance do the cha-cha around Johnson County Ks. Is there any hope now that tomorrow there's enough heat and instabilty left with the weakened frontal passage to give us a chance of rain?? i'm skeptical..if not..locally here it's getting pretty dry and ugly looking for June 1st and concern deepens.. =(
Robert
Robert,
At least it did rain from the weakening MCS tonight.

So much potential, so few results...
At roughly 9:30 PM in SW Lawrence (23rd & Kasold) we are up to a whopping .15", which I guess is better than nothing...but certainly not by much.
Bob
Bob,
Yes, another disappointing complex for us.

Hello Mr. Lezak,
Do you see a chance of T-storms later tonight in the Leavenworth area? We did get rain but very little.
There seem to be t-storms trying to develop out towards Concordia. Do you see that as growing into anything and heading our way?
-Ben-
Ben,
We still have to watch that area closely. There is a chance.

What is triggering the t-storms out towards concordia? The front is east of it. Is there a weak disturbance>
Hope to see more rain.
-Ben-
Ben,
There is a fairly significant upper level storm that will track across the Dakotas and northern Nebraska tomorrow. It may still be strong enough to hold up the front. But, this is what has triggered the new development.

OK this is crazy it was begging to look like the rain was about here and what do u know it fell apart i guess and we have got no rain whatsoever. This is very very fustrating.
Daniel,
I don't know if you just watched the weathercast, but right before I was on I couldn't believe what I saw. The rain just stopped and retreated away from you. I can imagine your frustration.

I should complain on the blog more often. I completely understand the frustration of not getting any rain, but almost immediately after complaining yesterday, we received 2.75 inches of the wet stuff at my house just outside of Warrensburg last night. At least I won't have to water the lawn for a couple of days now.
Mike,
I complained too, but only received 0.34". Maybe my complaint helped you as well. That is awesome. It was quite interesting yesterday evening and I think thunderstorms could form again today, in fact there are some heavy downpours just south of you early this morning.

I'm glad to see Warrensburg got some rain, just 8 miles North in Fayetteville we got just a teasing sprinkle. However the light show comming from the Warrensburg storm was an awesome display. Lightning was shooting across the sky in almost slow motion for the longest time. Would rather have the rain but the show will leave a long time memory for sure.
Fayetteville Jim
Jim,
We may have a few downpours today. More on this later.

Gary - .23" - unfortunately that will not alleviate the dry conditions much - what we really need is a significant event - ie front stalled south of us, with potent little waves in NW flow raking us again and again - 6 inches of rain would forstall the summer, which I think will be hot and dry.
But...my gut tells me the above scenario is merely like taking a lot of wine, leaving only the headache of the dry summer to look forward to. Oh well...
PS: Today looks like a non-starter - anyone with rain today will be fortunate.
Dog
Storm Dog,
2 to 3 inches and flooding so close to us. There are downpours just east of us now. Will it ever be our turn?

An update from Warrensburg. Last night we had just over 2.8" and already are at 2" for today with the first inch coming in the first half an hour. Streets are starting to flood and the radar looks like still more on the way. Guess we'll take it when we get it!
Brad,
Absoslutely amazing, so this puts you at close to 5 inches!

Gary,
Looks like things are starting to shake east of KC. Any chance that will build back over KC, or are chances more likely to come from the west.
Thanks.
Jeff,
The activity to the east has been going on since 2 AM. It is a spinning disturbance producing 2 inches of rain in less than an hour along its path. Thunderstorms are now forming around this disturbance and we may see a few of these near by this afternoon.
