Viewer Pics & Outlook Recap
Hello, there!
I hope you are having a good week so far! I enjoyed a few days off... and we got to go to the Royals/Indians games both Monday and Tuesday. All the Royals fans were VERY excited, as KC won both games! Being from Ohio... it was hard to see my Indians take the beating... but it was a fun time, anyway!
Here is a picture of me and Meredith Hoenes with former MLB umpire (and hero) Steve Palermo:

And here is a great story from ESPN.com on Palermo, who lives right here in the Kansas City area: http://espn.go.com/mlb/s/2001/0705/1222789.html#
Now for another picture sent in by Susan Broome... we sat behind her and her family at the game on Tuesday:

Yes... that is an Indians shrit under my jacket... sorry... I am very loyal! (But I do cheer for the Royals when they are NOT playing Cleveland!) :)
While we are on viewer photos... how about a few more? Here is one sent in by Michaela Harper from Wathena, Kansas. She took this picture of Tuesday's sunset the way home from Troy, Kansas. Great shot!

And here's an interesting image.

This was sent in by Adam from Riverside. He swears this is what he saw on the NCAR website yesterday! Pretty interesting!
You may have missed Gary's 15 day outlook last night... so here is a recap:
Over the next 15 days, we average two-and-a-half inches of rain. We are expecting to be MUCH below average as we actually go through this period. While there are a few light showers around today, we are going into a dry part of the pattern. We expect it to warm up at the end of this 15-day period... then it could get stormy again!
Have a good day!

You go Jamie and wear your Indians shirt! I wore my Dodgers shirt to the game last year. However, just to play it safe I have my Cactus League Spring Training shirt which has several teams listed, including the Royals, that I bought when I went to Phoenix in March. You need to go out there and get one next year. It is also supposed to hit 100 this week out there and here I still feel like it's closer to winter with all the gray skies.
After the dry spell do we get cold again or can we finally put away the jackets? And will we EVER get severe weather beyond some hail?
JERI:
Thanks for the kind words... I thought a few people might give me a hard time for that! :) I would LOVE to go to Phoenix (and I know my husband would, too... as he is probably the biggest baseball fan I have ever met!) It sounds like a fun time!
After the dry spell we should warm up... and the way Gary's weather pattern theory works... is that it eventually the pattern weakens and falls apart over the summer. So we just might be done with the chilly stretches.

Hi Jamie - Steve Palermo was an ump in my teenage years when I followed baseball with the Red Sox in New England - nothing like Fenway Park - bleacher seats were only $2.00 each, and the lower middle class and even poor folks could attend games. Now the prices of tickets are ridiculous - I can't afford them, but with free-agency, and players switching teams left, right and center (no pun intended), I can't really get into the game anymore - as with everything in this country (and world), the rich make out and the rest of us descend, slowly or not, into the nether reaches of the economy. Sad...it was much better when I was growing up, and now...well, I feel sorry for the young folks.

HEY, DOG...
Just edited the end a bit...
We went to Fenway a few years ago to watch the Sox/Yankees play. Of course, it was sold out, so we ended up paying a scalper $55/pp for those same $2 bleacher seats!! Amazing! It was a good game... but I swear there was more action in the stands than on the field. I cannot tell you how many people got kicked out of that game for fighting...
Anyway, we should be thankful tickets to Kauffman are still affordable. Maybe that is one benefit for having a team that is not #1??
