Flash Flood Update
Some of our northern counties have been taken OUT of the FLASH FLOOD WATCH. It is still in effect for counties along and south of the Missouri River:

Hello:
I hate to say this, but once again, "Another one Bites the Dust." The Weather service is already dropping the flood watch. This storm is just not going to do it.
Once again, we have a "bust." We just cannot seem to get any big storms here!
BRIAN:
The night is not over yet.

Jamie - That TCU just fell apart, no rain - noticed the NWS stubbornly holds to it's "heavy rain" prediction and Flash Flood Watch, although one wonders why - nothing on satellite (that MCS in NW KS is turning SSE according to water vapor loop I pulled up) and also nada on radar. Unbelievable. This NWS really seems to have it's share of problems with its forecasts.
Guess after mowing Monday, I won't have to mow for 3-4 weeks - grass should be nice and brown by then.

There is STILL the chance as the LLJ gets going... have to watch that KS/NE complex... and new development just NOW over Johnson County, KS.

Jamie,
You said to me that Johnson County,KS would probably see some significant thunderstorm activity tonight into tomorrow moring. From what i see on the radar map it looks like everything is developing to the southeast and direct east out by Columbia. Updated from the latest information what would you say the chances are for Overland Park to see rain becuase where i live i need it desperately.
Thanks.
JEFF:
There is a thunderstorm developing over Overland Park right now.

Well the dry air has once again taken over. Just like in the winter months with snow, it does this same thing this time of year. As with the winter months, the models don't catch this or something. Just like every storm that has been hyped by the NWS this season, this one is going to be a bust.
I just saw the latest NWS forecast and they are only talking about 3/4 to 1 inch of rain. That is a far cry from the 5 inches that Gary forecasted last night.
I also noticed that the computer models were WAY different tonight with the bulls eye of rain (heavy) to our east compared to where it was last night.
I know that thing change, and you folks seem to do a good job updating your forecasts. I don't mean to slam the NWS, because they cannot win no matter what they do.
However, you Gary and Jeff seem to always be on top of these storms, and do a much better job of letting the public know what you think will happen.
I moved to KS a year ago from Michigan, and honestly, the weather around here is not that much different. Yes it gets hotter, but as far as the thunderstorms, they are the same in Michigan as they are here.
Later,
Brian - Overland Park

Good Evening, Jamie & Gary
Patience is a virtue, let's see in what direction this new thunderstorm complex grows, seems things have trended easterly so far..and more energy in Nebraska to watch.
