Not Everyone...
Some of you are seeing some pretty good thunderstorms this afternoon! They have been concentrated to the Southern portion of the viewing area. Here is a look at ESP as of 4:20pm. Click on the image below to get the most current image:

The upper low is still to our west... and as it swings through overnight, we will continue the chance of scattered thunderstorms. You can see the SPC is thinking of issuing a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH in Kansas:

We will keep an eye on it. It would be nice if EVERYONE got in on the action, huh??

4:30 here in Greenwood, and we have started with some light rain. Have been watching the t-storms grow from the south all afternoon, but the big question is will enough develop behind the leading line so we get some heavier rain?
TIM:
Thanks for the update. Still the chance through the overnight... we'll watch it...

Hello Mrs. Jarosik,
Is the atmosphere to stable for thunderstorms to develpoe in our area? Do you think that the atmosphere will destabilize as we head into the early evening hours?
BEN:
Severe thunderstorms will likely form well to our west in Kansas. They would then head our way. We'll have to see if they can hold their strength as they move in.

Hi Jamie,
I was wondering.. If we do get any rain.. What time do you think it will be?
PS.. Keep up the great work!

MARY:
There is a line trying to form in Kansas right now. I think we will be ok for the next few hours... if they get going & hold together it would be later... 9, 10pm... that they would get here.

Okay, let's try some creative visualization. Everyone close their eyes: hear the thunder, see the lighting, take a deep breath full of the smell of cooling, soothing rain, hear the sound of raindrops pattering the gutters. "Ah, it's finally raining!", the birds and plants all sang in celebration.
TIM:
I'm doing it... are you?? :)

Hi weather people - I agree with someone's blog of last night mentioning 1954 - a historic drought year. As I mentioned to Gary previously, Joe Bastardi of NBC referred to this upcoming summer as rather like those in the decades of the 1930s to 1950s (dust bowl etc...). I would think that we could be flirting with at least a 1980 experience this year. In fact, due to global warming (although our leaders discount this), it could be worse. Glaciers are melting, sea-water temps are rising markedly - this must and will have an effect on weather patterns - ie longer and more severe drought periods, hotter temperatures.
The chickens are coming home to roost with a vengence, since our society can't do without its SUVs etc... and not one leader (demo or repub) has had the guts to address the issue head on. Brazil did in the 70s, but they had a military junta... h-m-m-m-m...

Hi Jamie, I'd like to put 20 dollars on "It Won't Rain in the KC Metro area" What are the vegas odds right now? :)
DAVE:
You know, I heard they were doing that with hurricanes this year :) If that line can just hold together...
