Changes start today!
Another night... more rainfall for much of the viewing area! Here is a look at the Doppler Rainfall Estimates through this morning:

The heaviest rainfall occured across the northern part of the area... with amounts ranging from 1" to upwards of 3". For the southern half... it was morel like a half inch to an inch or so. However, the heavier band to the southwest in Kansas was a range of 1 to 2". So quite the wet, active period for us here! Now... we quiet down and wait for the heat to build in! Here is an interesting picture sent into us by Julie Kelly:

She took this in Warrensburg... when she noticed the bank sign was reading a little TOO hot! :) But triple-digit heat IS in the forecast as we go through the weekend and into next week.
In other news... Weather Plus is now streaming on our website!! Please let us know how you like it:

I like to weather plus channel. I just have a few suggestions. On the "local weather updates" you could break it into two different segments: one show regional maps and current condition maps and for the other update show the weathercast. That way it would switch back and fourth to provide more information. Also during severe weather alerts, place the "bug" on the L bar in place of the NBC Aution Weather plus logo, so no information is covered. And on some systems the current conditions on the L bar can be looped to display live radar after all of the current conditions are shown. Just a few Ideas I have and and from the experience "playing" around with the weather plus at another station.
You guys do a great job and thanks for your hard work and dedication.
David
DAVID:

Good Afternoon, Jamie & Gary
Our complex last night really was all over the board! On the Nebraska border yesterday afternoon it really exploded quickly and actually around the Beatrice, Ne. area there were tornado warnings on a supercell with rotation. Then things turned southwestward, ran the river south..kind of split again around the metro but another line moved through Johnson County from an intense line in East Central Kansas as the lined refired also southeast of KC on the Missouri side. It was good to see the areas to the north..St Joe. ect. get some needed moisture. Now lets see if we break the century mark this weekend going into next week and consider ourselves extremely lucky we had a wet streak before it occurs. And it is great seeing the streaming webcast of Action Plus!..kudo's to you guy's for moving on that so fast.
Robert

Everyone may have gotten rain, but not everyone got enough. Here in northern Lenexa, I got .13" Everythig fizzled right as it moved into my area. Not really looking forward to this heat wave!

David,
I know, it is sort of amazing. I think there is an area near where you live that has yet to get one of the big rains. Almost everyone else has, but you have had some rain out of each one.
I only had 0.31" in south Overland Park.

Jamie:
I just wanted to let you know that we are located 125 miles west of the Twin Cities in Mn. We have had only 1.5 inches of rain since May 1st. Last night we received about 7 tenths of an inch of rain. Thirty miles west of us they received anywhere from 3-5 inches of rain. What a change. This was a small area with the heavy amounts but the 3/4 to 1 inch amounts were over a pretty good area. All was welcome. We have been in the 90's all week and the rain we received will help the crops get through this upcoming heat wave.
I have not read the archives to see what you had been predicting earlier this year but was wondering what your outlook is for the next 30 days? I don't know if you get into these type of forecasts or not.
Thanks again
Rod

Rod,
The weather pattern is about to change. A MASSIVE change. If you read our blog then you likely know about my weather pattern theory. The weather pattern sets up in October to early November and then starts cycling until it falls apart in late July. Well, it is about to fall apart and you will notice it up north as very different things will start happening. The pattern we have been in set up perfectly for you to be this dry, well, it is just about over. Within 10 days.

I love the fact that you do all this stuff for your viewers. Those other channels don't have a thing on you guys :) I've sent this link to my parents. I know they will enjoy reading and looking at all the posts from you guys. Thanks for the cool set-up here :)

Jamie,
I love that you now have the NBC Weather station streaming on your Web site. I will definitely be coming here since I don't have digital TV.
MARLINA:
I think the streaming video is great, too!! I mean, you can catch the most current forecast at ANY time, ANYwhere!
