5:44 PM this evening
Thunderstorms are turning our way. This is going to be a very interesting next 5 hours. This thunderstorm event has a mind of its own right now. At this moment the thunderstorms are turning south right down I-29. We will know more every hour. I like what I see at this moment, but this will evolve and some areas could very well get missed, yet others will get blasted. Winds in excess of 70 mph is the main threat.
The new GFS just came out with the end to the heat wave and wet conditions within 10 days. But, this is suspect at this moment. It will be very hot for a minor heat wave, then it could be over.

Just talked to family members in Maryville and Hopkins, MO. Amazingly just a few sprinkles, but damaging wind in Hopkins. Lots of large tree limbs down. Why does radar look like heavy rain but it is actually not raining or just sprinkles?

Eric,
It is raining there now!

Gary,
What do you think the Outcome for OP and Olathe are tonight. Can we expect heavy rains like 2 days ago or is it going to be some nasty severe thunderstorms. Should OP worry any about hail and wind. And if hail what size do you predict it could be.
Thanks.

Jeff,
Wind is the main threat. And the amount of rain will depend on a few factors. There are many thunderstorms north and west of this line so there could be a lot of rain. At the same time they could die. This is why we are all watching radar.

Gary....what are the chances that this rain will make it to Pleasanton,KS?? We are not in a watch box. Of course they could extend the watch further south I know. Monica

Monica,
Let's get it to Kansas City first and then we will see if it has a chance. There is something strange going on with Mother Nature right now.

Why in this time of weather aren't you live on action weather plus or at least do some more recent local forcasts than the ones i've seen for the past 2 hours?
---------------------------
Nickie,
You are right. We should be on, at least more often on Weather Plus. We are doing an update right now.
