Great Weekend!

Wow... it sure feels good out there with the break of the heat wave! We went from feeling like 115 degrees in parts of the area on Thursday... to feeling like 83 degrees on Friday. That is a 35-degree drop in what it FELT like outside... nice!!

High pressure is building in at the surface today. That will keep things quiet, and temperatures in check:

The heat will slowly build back into the area... we could see mid-90s by the middle of the week.

The real heat (100s) should stay to our south and west... with the upper level ridge:

Upper level waves will ride the northwest flow towards Kansas City around that ridge. But it's not until mid-week that one strong enough... with enough moisture... will bring us the chance of rain again:

Right now, the best chance looks to be on Wednesday! We'll keep you posted.

In the Tropics... we do have a very impressive hurricane! Hurricane Daniel is in the Eastern Pacific... and has maintained Category 4 strength for nearly two days! Wow... check it out on the satellite image below:

The good news... it does NOT threaten any land!
Have a good one, and enjoy the GREAT Weekend!

Use Hurricanes & Global Warming to Build a Weather Fort

Wouldn't it be possible to mount some lasers on those purty weather satellites of yours and use 'em to heat air masses surrounding that that energy hog we call a hurricane to manipulate the atmosphere in such a way as to dissipate the hurricane by manipulating the temperatures of the air masses that interact with the hurricane? The idea would be to help the surrounding weaker air masses to gang up on the big bully air mass that is hoggin' all the energy. Or...People who "practice" medicine use Low Level Laser Therapy to treat inflamed tissues. Essentially, the laser is siphoning off the heat from the inflamed tissue. It may not be exactly the same with air masses but it seems that the same concept might work to essentially siphon off the energy from the hurricane rendering it powerless to wreak havoc on the those nice folks livin' on the western half of the Pacific Rim.

Just add some more solar panels in high orbit or on the bright side of the moon and use the sun's energy to power the lasers. Or, if you use the siphoning technology, your lasers could be used to collect the energy which would power the lasers and you might want to store the excess energy which could be delivered back to Earth with another type of laser (a type of laser transport system). Ore you could redistribute the energy safely to the atmosphere usin' all yer fancy atmospheric energy charts. Or... counteract global warming by hoggin' some of that excess energy we keep hearin' about (global warming) and use it to power a weather research base on the moon. Maybe you should grab that weather genius of yours, those cute weather dogs and go down to the capitol and put on a show and see if they'll give ya some money to build it. Just building one less Stealth Bomber, ought to do the trick for starters. I think that this would be a good sacrifice to make in the interest of alleviating the horrible disasters that hurricanes cause. It's too darn hot out there anyway!

WILLIAM:
Interesting ideas to say the least!! It does sound very expensive, and we cannot really be sure it would work. What if the lasers miss their target... who would be responsible for whatever the outcome? Energy cannot be created nor destroyed... so where does ALL THAT POWERFUL hurricane energy go? Someplace... that could receive even more devastating damage than the original storm in the first place. Mother nature is all about balance... that is not something that I would personally want to mess with. It kind of makes me think of genetic engineering... for some really weird reason...
Thanks for posting!
