Thunderstorms are redeveloping...updated

Good afternoon,

Thunderstorms, a bit stronger than the earlier ones are starting to develop just west and northwest. The cold front is hard to find as the lower levels are all messed up by the earlier thunderstorms. I will try to figure this out, but there is hope for some more rain. There is a thunderstorm near Manhattan and it is 100 degrees. It is 93 at KCI so the atmosphere is destablizing.

This strange day of weather continues. More later.

O.K. Here is the more later.....

The morning thunderstorms were somewhat of a fluke. I don't think it has affected the atmosphere enough to ruin our chances of late afternoon through evening thunderstorms. There is a wave twisting, weakly, to our northwest north of Manhattan, KS. This is moving steadily east southeast and should be near the state line by 9 PM. A more organized area of thunderstorms has developed and this is heading right towards us. It may be an exciting evening. Some severe weather is possible, but mostly heavy thunderstorms will be the result.

I still can't find much of a reason for this mornings thunderstorms. It messed up our forecast but we are living and the weather is getting exciting.

I slept in today, and when I woke up the ground was wet and it was cloudy! My only dissapointment is that I slept through the rain.(I don't think St. Joe got a lot though). Since the front is further south now do you think that the next batch of thunderstorms that were supposed to occur tonight will likely be south of St. Joe? I hope not.
BTW, you and your team are still the best by far. Even on the rare times like today when stuff does go unexpected you are very honest about it. Thanks for your time.

What a strang day it has been. So Hot just to the west and big storms. The sun came out and temps have begun to zoom. I sure hope these storms hold up and give us some much needed rain.

For two days I have watched storms move along the MO/IOWA border with no movement to the south. These storms are popping up fast as I type so lets hope we can all get something out of them.

BTW, your team is hands down the best Kansas City has for reliable weather. While this may be a frustrating day for you, it was bound to happen. Dont forget where we live... you have been here long enough to know how crazy the weather can be from one minute to the next. Even with the best equipment in the industry, it is impossible to hit within 3 degrees of the temp every day. You are either very good, very lucky, or we are in a very boring predictable pattern.

I am gonna go take a nap and dream of a snowy winter :)

would you agree it looks like the early morning storms in iowa pushed a OFB south across the region so the vast majority of this afternoon's rain would stay south of a st. joe. to chillicothe line? I've been watching the radar loop and it appears the stuff in KS is moving ESE away from us up north

Glen,

There were all kinds of strange things going on today. I don't have a great explanation. The thunderstorms and showers that formed near Ottawa and then expanded north never really enhanced on satellite. Then a very fast moving gravity wave tracked from north to south across the area this afternoon. Very strange day.

Hello Mr. Lezak,
This morning I noticed while looking at the radar that there was a outflow boundary moving south from a cluster of thunderstorms in nebraska. once the boundary hit just north of KC i noticed that thunderstorms were beginning to develop. This might have caused the whole days weather to change.

Do you see a good chane of rain later today into tonight?

Ben,

Maybe on Sunday? The outflow boundary was more of a gravity wave and not reflected at the surface. A very strange day.
