Uh oh, the weekend forecast MAY be changing
Good evening,
First of all, we haven't received a comment from anyone in 8 hours. There may be a problem, or no one cares about us anymore. O.K., the comments seem to be coming in. I was just panicking........I think.
The latest data coming out tonight is strongly trending towards a further west digging upper low. Below is the NAM 48 hour 500 mb chart that just came out. The NGM model agrees and if this trend continues the entire weekend forecast is wrong. So, we will be making changes for the 10 PM newscast and then figure it out on Friday. It is somewhat exciting.

Hello Mr. Lezak,
Is there a chance that the rain out in western Kansas may affect us or will they fall apart?
Exiting weekend? Rain?
--------------------------
Ben,
The western Kansas rain has very little chance of getting here. The excitement could be just in the fact that the storm is closing off and slowing down. But, we must wait another day to see how it is looking.

I'm really curious about Hurricane John because the NHS keeps saying it will hit somewhere around La Paz, then make a hard left and limp out to sea. I think even their own computer models don't agree.
The water temperatures in the Pacific are around 75 but the temps are about 85-90 in the gulf (Weather Channel map). If John were to stay east of the mountains, couldn't it follow the path of Diana and others that shot moisture all the way to the Four Corners before they died? I saw a computer model that showed John just off the coast of San Diego by Tuesday.
How would this play out in the midwest?

Buddynoel,
We have to watch John closely, but it appears it will go out over those colder waters.

Of course we still care about you guys! This is the best weather blog I've been able to find on the internet. I appreciate the fact that you guys don't talk down to us, just because we may not all be certified meteorologists. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Marlina!

Gary,
I am getting married at sunset on September 30th north of the river. What is the weather trending towards?
I know it does not have anything to do with this weekends forecast, but I thought my post would be give you a count of 1.
Thanks
Jeff Carter

Jeff,
It is way too early to tell. The weather pattern is in massive transition right now.

Stable, nice weather = people outside enjoying the weather.
Thus, not sitting in front of the computer posting to your website. Don't take it personally. I actually got to mow my yard today. It's amazing how bad it looked one week ago and now it's looking like it is April Green.

Hank,
Good point! The entire region has turned green. It is so much prettier this way.
Have a great weekend.

Is the rainy weather we may see on Monday the kind of storm that might produce tornados, or is it too early to know?
-------------------
Denese,
The ingredients aren't really coming together for any severe weather. But, let's see how it looks as we go through each day. It may end up being a nice weekend.

Oh Gary...you are so silly :) Don't panic :) Everyone is still around. I agree with Marlina, this is best thing around. Like I said yesterday, I love it cause you can get in more details here than on the air. I understand that you only have a very limited time on TV to get everything out, that's why this place is so cool. Now if that orney Jack Harry would just give you those extra few seconds...:)
I'm looking forward to this weekend. Santa-Cali-Gon days are going on and the weather looks wonderful for that. Even with the chance of rain in there, it still is going to be nice to walk around at the square and go through the tents without sweltering. I hope this stretch of weather lasts. I'm not going to miss all the hot stuff we've had.
I hope you have a wonderful day :)

Donna,
It does look like a pretty nice weekend overall. We just have to watch the storm system to our northwest. Have a great weekend.

Hey Gary,
It looks like our rain chances are improving for this weekend, does this look like a hit or miss type of event or more of a metro wide rain chance. I'm got some painting decisions to make, don't let me down! :)
Thanks,
Ken
---------------------
Ken,
It looks very spotty right now and if the upper low tracks north of us we may have only a few showers around.

Gary,
What is the weather like for Monday evening and Tuesday evening? The Yankees are in town and it's my only chance to get to see them live this year.
Thanks!

Matt,
It will be a bit cool for early September. But, it should stay dry. The weather will be very nice.
