Rain Chances Linger
TODAY'S NUMBERS:
HIGH: 73
LOW: 66
Today, we picked up some more rain across the area! Here are some of the running totals, as of 5pm:
KCI: .53"
DOWNTOWN: .28"
TOPEKA: 1.34"
LAWRENCE: .20"
OLATHE: .18"
CHILLICOTHE: .18"
ST. JOSEPH: .74"
MANHATTAN: 1.06"
EMPORIA: .12"
This evening, there are ongoing showers and thunderstorms SOUTH and EAST of the Metro... with a nice break in the rain for the immediate Metro. However... the sun has peeked out a bit... and that helps to de-stabilize the atmosphere! Even though we have been worked-over by rain earlier today... if the instability can prove to be enough... ADDITIONAL showers and thunderstorms could develop west of us. This is what we will be watching for the evening/overnight.

Above is the ESP image from 5:30pm. I have circled the area to watch for deveoping thunderstorms! Monday and Tuesday still look rather cool, we're still in the trough, and the clouds should hang around!
Have a great evening!

Jamie,
Rainfall update for the weekend:
.10 overnight Friday
.15 Sunday afternoon
So, just a .25 of an inch for the weekend but at least it'll keep my dormant grass on the road back to recovery!
TIM:
It could be worse... some places got only a tenth of an inch or so. But you weren't really in the best of spots, either. Thanks for the report!

Looks like the storms are starting to form now out to the west at 710 PM, however noticed that they are moving towards the SSW. Hopefully they will get here!
BRYAN:
They are actually moving East right now (7:45pm). They will clip the southern part of the Metro... the rest should stay dry for now.

Howdy Jamie,
Looking at the current radar, do we have any chance of those storms making it to Grain Valley? :) :)
DAVE:
Keep your fingers crossed if you want the rain! It will be close, the heaviest rain may go south of you.

Hello Mrs. Jarosik,
Is there a chance for rain later tonight or tomorrow?
BEN:
The chance of rain continues tonight and tomorrow morning. I wouldn't be surprised to see a sprinkle or a light shower somewhere nearby even tomorrow afternoon.

Hello:
Looks like OVerland Park missed out on the so called major rain event again! NWS was calling for heavy rain at one point, and as always, nothing major happened. Another one bites the dust, at least for Overland Park!
Brian
HI, BRIAN!
I don't think we ever deemed this a heavy rain event. I know we were saying that any thunderstorm would have the potential to dump some heavier amounts... but that was it from me. Some places did see more than an inch, though... too bad you missed out...
But you can't say "As always... nothing major happened," because if I remember correctly... it was just 2 weeks ago that we got several inches of rainfall with flooding!! ;)

Sorry Jamie. A couple of weeks ago was the only time in the past few months where we didn't get missed. Oh sure, we have seen a little bit of rain, but nothing major. I should have added that you are correct, you did not forecat a major rain event. It was "others," who forecasted this to be a major rain event. It just didn't turn out as forecasted by some. I type that comment really fast, and press the submit button way to fast!
Keep up the good work!
THANKS, BRIAN!
Unfortunately, light precip is all we will see for awhile. Pretty dry this week :(

next sunday 091706 is it going to rain, my softball team is wanting to get some games in and im considering moving the games to saturday the 16th please advise craig harvey softball coach
CRAIG:
Next weekend is iffy, as a storm system will be approaching. I would say Saturday has a better chance of being DRY than Sunday. I have a 30% chance of rain in for Sun/Mon.
Good luck!
