Summer in October
The pattern the next 5-8 days will be dominated by a summerlike anticyclone centered in the Tennessee Valley (see map 1 below). In about 8-10 days we will see some big changes. It will start with the west coast trough shifting east (see map 2 ). After that anything goes. It is an exciting time of year as the pattern undergoes huge changes. And, it is these changes, this time of year, that will have an affect on our whole winter (Gary's theory).

Are you saying in 8-10 days the fall-like weather will be back, probably for good?
MARLINA:
This is from Jeff's blog entry:
"In about 8-10 days we will see some big changes. It will start with the west coast trough shifting east. After that anything goes"
Note the "anything goes" part! ;) We will have to see... but one thing is sure... it will look a LOT different than it does right now!

Wow, the weather is really boring. Any chance of t-storms in the near future?
BEN:
I feel like we've been thrown BACK into the twilight zone... with this upper ridge being back in place. There is a front coming through Wed... not a whole lot of moisture, but we may see a few showers. Next chance of rain would come at the end of next weekend. That looks a little interesting, but it's still a long way off.
