Warm Weekend Weather!

Good morning, Bloggers!

Well after several very GRAY days across the area... we are finally in for some SUNNY weather! This weekend looks absolutely fantastic! Expect mostly sunny skies both days (today we may fight some high clouds for a little, though). And temperatures that will feel nice and comfortable... mid-to-upper 60s today, and mid-upper 70s on Sunday!!!

Here is a look at that warm air building our way... on the 850mb chart (5,000 feet up):

So enjoy the warmer weather!! Last weekend, I got to go to the Chiefs game with Gary... and it was chilly. But THIS weekend... WOW!! Enjoy a nice warm game at Aarowhead if you are heading out!

Our next chance of rain (slim) comes Monday night with a cold front... otherwise... we're in for a break in any rainfall!
Have a good one!

Jamie, I believe this is your last weekend so I wish you the best on your new venture. I know what it's like to want to be near family. Our daughters live here so we came back here, too. Take care and keep in touch on the blog. Loving this warmer sunny weather before winter settles in.

GINGER:
Yes, this is my last weekend. They had a cake for me yesterday in the newsroom... it was really good... but really sad, too. It's so bittersweet!

We will have some warmer air to start the week, then a mid-week cool-down. So enjoy it while it's here! :)

This will be a nice break heading into November. One last taste of summer :)

OMG... only 2 more days left of Jamie :(

While we wont see your smiling face every week, we still will love to read your blogs and see pictures of Mags :)

JOE:
Yes, a good break from any big storm systems... although we do still need the rain! Thanks, I'll still be around the blog for sure! We will try to post a farewell picture of Mags tomorrow.

Jamie,
The current weather pattern does not look very good for the central states to have any prolonged periods of cold air. A strong trough is being forecasted to develop in the Eastern Pacific by the GFS, which almost always means warmer air for the plains.
I hope your last weekend in KC is great, and I wish you the best of luck.
Devin

DEVIN:
You're right... this is the boring part of the pattern. Mild and dry. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Let's hope we don't see as many of these periods as we did last year.
Thanks for your kind words,
Jamie

Jamie - Well again, been good to know you.
Ohio does get very interesting weather, even more than KC, and can get really nasty severe stuff, as you well know, having lived there. Also probably more snow as well,so enjoy.

The GFS (the one before the 18Z) looks rather interesting for around Nov 11th. Granted thats way out, but the long range 376/384 GFS model nailed this last cut-off low almost to the square mile, and was only late one day. A remarkable performance by the GFS, while, according to the NWS, the other models had the system coming out in pieces and not cutting off. I wonder if the GFS could be correct on this, if so, could be quite a storm, tho not at this time, a cut-off low. Time will tell.

Take care,
The Dog

DOG:
Ohio does get a little bit of everything... severe, snow, and our fair share of nice days, too! It will be fun to go through the winter on the blog, so we can all compare weather events! :)

That far out on the GFS is fantasy... things will likely change. But it does look interesting, we'll see if it's still showing up in another week or so!

SCOTT:
Thank you... but isn't it dead? ;) It will be fun to follow along with the GRC, though... we can all do it together!

Jaime - Just when we get used to someone new at KSHB they leave for one reason or another. The morning shows have a new news person every other week!!! At least Brett anchors the place down. Why don't we ever see him blogging?

Anyway - best of luck to you in your new endeavors. Good luck selling your hoome here with the housing market being what it is these days!

Looks like we will be sending you off with spectacular weather!

Leonard

LEONARD:
I have often thought TV stations should always hire people that are from that area. That way, more of them would stay! Anyway, thank goodness we don't have a house to sell... but I am looking forward to buying our first home by the end of the year! It's a buyers' market, for sure--that is good news for us!! And, yes, it will be a nice drive tomorrow!

Maybe if some of you emailed Brett and bugged him to blog, he would do it more often? ;) He is pretty busy in the morning... there is a lot going on...

Thanks, Leonard!

Dog, if you buy into the last month's trend, then you can see what will happen on Nov. 11th.
30-Sep Trough
5-Oct Cold Blast
10-Oct Trough
13-Oct Cold Blast
15-Oct Trough
21-Oct Cold Blast
26-Oct Trough
30-Oct Cold Blast

These cutoffs seem to be a recurring theme already. I expect to see many of these this winter. This should be pretty active.

Since today is your last day:(, I just wanted to say again good luck in Ohio!(They have a great meteorologist heading their way!)
BTW, thanks for the link to that Ohio snowstorm a few days back, I remember that being on the news, many people were stranded in their vehicles, it was a monster!
Thanks for your time and good luck!
Nick in St. Joe!

NICK:
