One last update before I turn it in for the night
I was just on the air and it was not an easy weathercast with all of the variables to discuss. We basically feel it will drop to below freezing later in the day in Kansas City and possibly as low as 27 degrees by evening.
The storm is showing signs of coming out a bit further north. Let's see if these trends continue. KCI airport is amazingly already up to over 2 inches of rain for this storm. So, no matter what happens......we were hit by this storm.

Prepare for the winter stuff...I think its coming up north. If the UUL forms near the TX panhandle...we will get it.

Scott,
You meant ULL, for Upper Level Low! Let's see if this trend continues. It is the bottom of the 9th, we are down by 3 with the bases loaded. Can George Brett come through. Here comes the first pitch. There are two outs.

Gary, when we moved to Overland Park four years ago one of the things I looked forward to most was snowy winters -- thinking in terms of 24" snowstorms as minimums! This is our last winter here since we'll be moving to Nebraska in mid-February.
Love your enthusiasm for real science. We'll be missing your forecasts but will continue to be major fans via the Internet.
Come ON, snow!
---------------------------
Sunnye,
If you are moving to Nebraska then you are guaranteed of having much snowier winters. Maybe we can get you some snow before you leave.

6:00a.m. in Maryville and we have a light snow shower! So maybe we'll see a little wintery precip after all?
--------------------
Tye,
There is an interesting twist in the weather for northwest Missouri. There is a chance of a 2 to 3 inch snowband developing north of Kansas City this evening.

My mom is flying in from Connecticut tonight, her plane is due in around 10pm. How do you think the roads will be then? Icy? And do you think her plane will be able to land at KCI?
-----------------
Kimberly,
It is tough to say. The road crews will likely do a great job, but there could be some slick spots.

I moved here in March from Alaska. I am used to Thanksgiving being -30F or so. When we got the first frosts here bear No. Grandview a couple weeks ago, my kids squeeled with glee! Soon after that there were a few flakes spotted at night. They are super excited about the idea of snow on the horizon. C'MON SNOW!!!
