Late Friday evening update.....
The GFS and NAM are closer in agreement of taking the upper low near or south or KC. When it passes colder air should rush in. So, I am going to tweak the forecast as I am on in a few minutes. Some snow could fall on this back side Sunday afternoon, evening or Sunday night into early Monday!
Jeff Penner will blog in the morning! Have a great weekend.

Should this be snow flurries or snow showers. Plus could Appleton see any snow. Im guessing no accumulations.
Daniel,
It looks like we may get just a few flurries and snow showers Sunday night. No accumulation is expected.

Gary, Jeff & Jeremy,
The rain has begun here in Greenwood around 11:30pm. Hope the temps will drop faster and sooner than expected and we can get some more exciting weather! I'll take 1.5 inches of rain though, don't get me wrong...
Tim in GW
Tim,
Thanks for the information.

Jeff:
Good Morning!! We recieved just under a quarter of an inch last night in the SW part of Lawrence (about one mile East of Clinton Dam) Looks like this morning we're getting dry slotted a bit and or the storms to the south east are robbing some of the moisture on the North side of the storm. Based on models this morning, looks like we might see another round or two of good rain today and tonight-time to watch radars!!!!! Is the storm maybe digging a bit further south??? My snow bias is running wild!!
Like the looks of the long range models-seems like the Pacific may finally get blocked somewwhat!! Have a great day!!
Bill,
You are right. We are in a break, but it looks like we will get a nice round 2 of rain Saturday afternoon and evening.
The latest data still shows this storm tracking north. We may still get some snow showers Sunday night.
There are, no doubt, growing indications that January 10-20 may see a lock up in the jet stream, giving us a chance of Arctic air annd snow. This fits the LRC perfectly. It is 40-43 days after the November 26-30 wintry period.

Okay, I just saw the radar, and I think it looks like it's going to be going slightly further South than we thought (I hope). I am crossing my fingers that it turns EVEN MORE South... oh yeah, I also believe in Santa Claus. Miracles do happen????? :)
Beth,
I wish we could perform a holiday miracle, but it still looks like the upper low will likely come right near us. This still could bring some snow showers as we ring in 2007!
It is hard to believe that the low is not going further south, given its present location in west Texas.
