Tuesday Morning Update
Good Morning,
I hope everyone is off to a good start this week. Please vote in today's primary elections, the weather won't be a factor in keeping people away from the polls. The average high today is 47, we should be right there for a high. Tomorrow night into Thursday morning we are under a slight risk of severe weather. While again, 99-percent of the area will be safe there is a slim chance for a strong thunderstorm with wind to develop. Here is a link to the Storm Prediction Center's Day 2 Outlook. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html
Have a great day, enjoy the warm up tomorrow. We need this storm to go a lot farther south if we want snow.
Have a great day,
Brett

Gary...I talked to my father-in-law who lives in Harmony, MN near the Iowa border....they had 22inches of snow total from that last big storm over 2 days plus some freezing rain.

Chris,
Finally they are getting winter up there.

I went to the Storm Spotter meeting on 2/15 in Liberty which was very informative. I know that being in the basement is the safest place to be in a tornado. However, I have been doing some reading into WHERE in the basement is the safest place. The middle, the southwest corner, etc? After a strong tornado, researchers have found that debris can "wrap" around the outside edges and corners of the basement. What is your opinion on this. The NWS replied "in the basement" when I asked this question.

Cindy,
I agree. The basement. It really doesn't matter where in the basement. Most likely your house won't be hit by an EF4 or an EF5. So, just get there and you are 99% safe.
