For Foley, it's easy being green

[ Go Back ]

Have you heard? Rep. Mark Foley is the greenest Republican in Florida.
Republicans for Environmental Protection released its first congressional scorecard Wednesday, rating Republican lawmakers for their votes and support of energy, public lands, air and water legislation in 2005.
And Foley - who has led the fight for the Indian River Lagoon and other Everglades issues - received the top score among Florida Republicans for his work on the environment.
Foley aides have said they worked hard for the first-place ranking.
"With Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades in his back yard, the environment plays a major role in determining how he votes," said Jason Kello, Foley's spokesman. "Increasing water quality, recovering after four hurricanes and restoring the Everglades have been priorities for Congressman Foley in Washington."
