Congress.org recently put together their annual most powerful members of Congress list and you may find the results quite interesting. Rep. Alcee Hastings, the Miramar Democrat who represents western Martin and St. Lucie Counties came in as the 19th most powerful, leading the Florida delegation. Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Palm Beach Gardens, ranked 213, while Rep. Dave Weldon, who represents part of Indian River County, came in at #335.
On the Senate side, Bill Nelson ranked 26 out of 100 while Mel Martinez, who was recently elected as the chair of the Republican Party, came in at 89.
