Word on the street in these neck of the woods is the immigration debate will kick into high gear beginning early next week on May 14th. Sen. Mel Martinez, the Florida Republican and the chamber's only immigrant, has been working non-stop on a comprehensive reform bill. That legislation will make some illegal immigrants eligible for citizenship after 13 years if they pass a series of background checks and pay a steep fine.
