WASHINGTON - There's so much back and forth on the immigration bill in this neck of the woods, it's enough to make one's head spin.
But Sen. Mel Martinez, Florida's junior senator and one of the architects of the immigration reform measure, says he thinks the bill is still a go despite all the partisan bickering.
"I continue to be optimistic that we can get this done," Martinez said on Thursday. "The alternative, frankly, is to leave the problem unresolved. This is the time to fix it."
Meanwhile it looks like the final vote on immigration will be pushed back once again. Sources say the contentious vote could take place early next week and as soon as Monday.
