Food or drink maker may be looking at southern PSL

[ Go Back ]

The Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County has asked for help from Port St. Lucie to bring an unnamed food processing/distribution plant to southern St. Lucie County or the Tradition area.

The plant would need 60- to 100-acres and require 2 million gallons a day of fresh water, 400,000 gallons a day of waste water, according to a letter sent Thursday from Candace Walker, vice president of the EDC to city Manager Don Cooper.

Walker said Friday that a recruiter had recently approached the local economic development group with the site requirements for an undisclosed client looking for land in Florida.

"This is just an initial bid, and we're getting in on the tail end of the bid," she said. "Even we have very little information."
