Florida Tech has now has the state's largest research telescope, a 32-inch, computer driven device, topping the 30-inch telescope operated by the University of Florida.
The telescope, at a cost of $650,000, was installed this week on Florida Tech's F.W. Olin Physical Science Building.
Students in the school's astronomy and astrophysics courses will be able to use the telescope.
This isn't something out of the blue for the school. Florida Tech operates a telescope in Tucson, Ariz., and has been refurbishing one in Chile.
