Christ the King 28, Benjamin 16
September 8, 2007 12:14 AM

LUBBOCK - Benjamin's Derrick Northrup scored two touchdowns and accounted for 69 yards rushing in the first half Friday night, but both Mother Nature and the Christ the King Eagles conspired against them.

The Mustangs fell to 0-2 on the season as their 28-16 halftime deficit turned into the game's final score after officials canceled the game due to lightning in the Lubbock area.

Gilbert Nevarez and Lucas Cartwright each finished 4.5 tackles to lead the Mustangs' defense on the night.

Benjamin hosts Wilson next week.
