Times Record News

FORT WORTH - The Fort Worth Eastern Hills Highlanders picked up their first win of the season and handed the Hirschi Huskies their second straight loss with a 52-12 rout at Scarborough-Handley Field Friday night.

"We didn't play well," Hirschi coach Neal Searcy said. "We did not execute well on either side of the ball.

"They played really good and they had a running back who ran hard. We had a hard time tackling them. They are a good football team."

Eastern Hills held a big advantage in rushing yards, running for 389 while holding the Huskies to minus-22 yards.

Both of Hirschi's touchdowns came through the air, but not before the Highlanders held a 32-0 lead.

The Highlanders jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter as Alfred Robinson scored on a 15-yard run; Julian Wagner and Chris French combined on a 42-yard pass and catch; and Hirschi's Harrison Johnson was tackled in the end zone for a safety.

French scored on a 12-yard run and Cornelius Brown returned a Hirschi fumble 25 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to put the home team up 32-0.

The Huskies finally got on track as Desmond Ridley caught a 49-yard scoring pass from Darius Thornton. The duo hooked up once again before the half for a 40-yard score to cut the lead to 32-12.
Robinson, who rushed for 255 yards and four touchdowns, closed out the first-half scoring on a 15-yard run and a two-point conversion to make it 40-12.

The third period saw Robinson close out the scoring for the game with runs of 68 and 2 yards.
He ended up accounting for 30 of Eastern Hills’ 52 points.

Ridley led the Hirschi ground game with six yards, while catching three passes for 89 yards.

Johnson was 0-for-2 passing with an interception and had minus-32 yards rushing before giving way to Thornton, who completed 3-of-11 passes and rushed for five yards.

The Huskies are now 3-2 for the season and play host to San Angelo Lake View next Saturday in a 1 p.m. game at Memorial Stadium. The Highlanders are 1-4 on the season.
