Cole Weldon will be one of the top quarterbacks in the area this time next year. Weldon, who just took over the starting job last week against City View, is starting to come into his own (5 touchdowns in his last two starts) and keep in mind he is just a sophomore. He will surely be a force the next couple of years. He is a strong and lean 6 foot 200 pounds and will probably get a little bigger. His brother, Kort, is a senior on the Jacksboro offensive and defensive line. Kort is getting numberous college offers thanks to his 6'3" 250 pound frame. Both boys have a great pedigree as well. Their grandfather (Jerry Logan)played saftey for the Baltimore Colts and was a teammate of Johnny Unitas. Logan won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Colts, and he is enshirned in the West Texas A&M University Football Hall of Fame. Logan played in serveral Pro Bowls as well. Kole and Kort's father (Eugene Weldon) was a standout defensive end for Jacksboro in the late 70's and played football at West Texas State in the early 80's. Keep an eye on young Kole. He has the tools, the pedigree, and the drive to be a good one.
