Moguls know one play could make the difference Andy Newberry/Times Record News "I told the guys while we were watching the film with Windthorst that it was just an extra point," Corcoran said. "How many of you understand how important one point is? Every play is huge. A punt, any special teams play can make the difference in the game."

Sundown and Munday have made big plays all year long. That's evident by their unbeaten records.
The Roughnecks and Moguls have suited up 27 times and won every time -- by a combined score of 1,158-218.
But Munday coach Patrick Corcoran knows that at this time of the year it's the little plays that make all the difference.
And with the credentials of Sundown and Munday, it looks as if a few plays could spell the difference in today's Class A Division II state semifinal matchup at 2 p.m. at the Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater.
Despite their huge point-differentials and lofty rankings -- Sundown third, Munday fourth -- both have won close games in the playoffs.
Sundown defeated Wink, 28-26, while Munday has survived close games with No. 2 Roscoe (35-27) and Windthorst (17-16).
"Some good things have happened for Sundown where they'll score right before the half to get a lead or extend the lead, and we've had the same things happen for us," Corcoran said.
The Roughnecks rolled in the Region I final, 50-21 over Nazareth. The Swifts had seven turnovers in that game, setting up Sundown quite nicely.
"They're a pretty physical football team that is smash-mouth on offense," Corcoran said. "They run the ball well and run play-action passes. Their defense is quick and has good size."
John Heffley leads Sundown with 2,127 yards and 33 touchdowns rushing. He also scored on a 68-yard interception return last week.
"He has real good vision and finds the cutback lanes," Corcoran said. "He's broken lots of long runs. The key is to play him down the line."
Roughnecks quarterback Jason Durham has passed for more than 700 yards and can also make plays with his feet.
The Munday defense has been able to adjust week to week to various offensive attacks.
"Coach (Ronny) Lowrance has a good game plan and comes up with keys for the secondary and linebackers," Corcoran said. "We've been getting to the football and not missing tackles. The missed tackles have been down in the playoffs. And we've been real fortunate and the kids have stayed healthy."
Munday linebacker Sammy Hernandez leads the team with 28 tackles in the playoffs, including eight for losses. Anason Jones also has eight stops behind the line in the playoffs. The team registered 15 TFLs last week.
Other defensive standouts have included B.J. Dockins, Rob Dillard, Sammy Nunez, Rob Dillard and Marcos Gonzalez.
The Mogul offense is led by quarterback Steven Urbanczyk with 1,369 yards and 18 touchdowns rushing, plus another 1,136 yards and 13 TDs passing.
Jones is next with 1,245 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, and Dockins has 1,065 yards and 16 touchdowns.
A quick start made all the difference against Roscoe. Corcoran would welcome another one, plus holding mistakes to the bare minimum.
"I felt like we were a step slow against Windthorst, after all that energy we expended against Roscoe," Corcoran said. "We're a little better off this week. You've got to be careful with the football. Nazareth turned it over in their own end and gave up short fields.
"We have to control their front four. Those kids come off the football and wreck havoc. They are kind of like us, everybody makes plays."
The team that makes the most today will face the Maud-Bremond winner next week for the Class A Division II championship. That game is set for 2 p.m. today at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches.
