Go Big!

July 2, 2007

The Mavericks probably weren't first in line for Kevin Garnett, but some talk has surfaced that they might be a player for it now.

The first place I saw anything was DallasBasketball.com, but others have mentioned it as well.

The fantasy owner in us all loves to talk trade. Less than 1 percent of these become a reality.

So what would you give up for KG?

We all know that two stars are the best way to success in the NBA, not one. Dallas currently has one, with apologies to Josh Howard, a very good player.

So the trade probably has to start with Howard, add a point guard (hopefully Jason Terry) and other salary pieces.

Garnett and Dirk and any three guys make up a good NBA lineup on paper.

Guard play is important in the NBA, but start with Dirk and KG and throw in two guards and DeSagana Diop and even the Spurs might have to sweat a little.

The chances of it happening probably aren't good. But Mavericks' fans may be like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber.
The girl says "more like one in a million" and Carey responds "So you're telling me there's a chance."
Until Garnett has moved to another team, fans in several NBA cities will hold onto that chance.
