Rider's turn to win 5-4A

October 11, 2007

The best two Rider teams under Scott Ponder didn't win district championships. The 2007 version should do that and is my favorite to win a regional title, too.

One key is the offensive line has rounded into form after a slow start against tough competition. And defensively, the Raiders don't appear to have a lot of soft spots. It's not really about the stars, but the solid play all over the field. And aggressiveness that comes with confidence in knowing you're doing what you're supposed to be doing.

Denton Ryan is talented, but I'll be surprised if they beat Rider for a second straight year.
