Hartley on another field

January 27, 2010

My memory of Garrett Hartley as a high school athlete wasn't on the football field, making a last-second field goal as he did Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
I remember him on the soccer field, coming up from his goalkeeper position to take a free kick leading to a Southlake Carroll goal in a victory over Rider.
Many soccer goalies have strong legs, but Hartley's strength and accuracy got your attention.
Another Southlake Carroll kicker, Kris Brown of the Houston Texas, I always remember for splitting the uprights on a kickoff at Memorial Stadium as the Dragons played Vernon.
