Olympics are here

February 12, 2010

Hate to say it as a sports guy, but the Winter Olympics snuck up on me.
Between Upward basketball, getting my kids on soccer teams for the spring and covering high school sports at the newspaper, I haven't given the Olympics any thought.

With the NFL out of the way and March Madness still a few weeks away, maybe I'll check out NBC.
My kids would enjoy some of the ski events or skating perhaps.

Snowed out hoops

February 11, 2010

We had to print out paper really early so adding this here for this weekend's basketball.
Old High will play Denton at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday after the JV game.
Rider coach Mark Richardson said his team will play varsity only at Denton Ryan at 1 p.m. He will probably take a couple of JV players and let them get some varsity experience.
Donald Hedge said his game with Decatur is on as far as he knows. It wouldn't surprise me to see it moved though. Decatur didn't want to come to Burk on a day that the roads were pretty clear a few weeks ago.

Petrolia said on Thursday night that its game with Archer City was still on. So WF hoops fans might want to go see that one. Archer has a lot of good 3-point shooters, but Petrolia's all-around game was 1-point better the first time. Should be another good one.
Same goes for Olney at Holliday.
