Bad Decisions
August 18, 2006Somebody I know, who knows somebody else, was involved in a drunken driving incident Thursday.
That person just so happened to be celebrating his birthday the other night.
I guess he had one to many. Then he made the decision whether or not to leave the bar behind the wheel of a one-ton weapon.
He just so happened to hit somebody Thursday morning. And according to Friday's paper, the person is in ICU in serious condition.
The person I know said they tried to wrestle the car keys from him that night, before he could leave.
It's unfortunate he couldn't get them away.
When do people draw the line in the sand on whether or not they feel sober enough to get behind the wheel?
What are the guidelines? People know their bodies, but should it be a case by case basis?
Drunk driving, last time I check, is the number one killer of the innocent. (Next to war)
I don't condone anyone driving after they've had too many, but I'm sure a lot of people have.
I pray for the mistakes I've made in the past about some of the decisions I've made.
I know at times I shouldn't have done what I did, when I did them, but I did them anyway.
I'm sure every Thursday night, or any college night in Wichita Falls for that reason, there will be at least one person driving around when they shouldn't be.
So back to my friend who has the friend.
I'm not saying it was right, but I'm guessing he thought he was "good" to drive.
You can only do one thing, and that's pray for both parties. I'm still doing it for some of the stuff I've done. Somebody was looking over my shoulder.
