Big Red Sports and Imports
WWLS - 640 AM in Wichita Falls - main source of advertising revenue is the now legendary Big Red Sports and Imports car dealership in Norman, Okla.
The broadcast that usually shouts the dealership from the rooftops is the Sports Animal.
Well the animal needs to rethink some things.
Listening to the channel Wednesday morning I realized these guys still back the dealership that shafted their favorite Sooners.
The were trying to defend the fact that college athletes, based on OU's ban this week, should still be able to work at a car dealership.
I call that a bunch of bologna.
WWLS is talking crazy talk. I remember the radio personality talking about the fact that now college athletes have one fewer place to work at now that they can't work at a car dealership.
I bet I could move to Norman tomorrow and find a job within 48 hours.
It doesn't take much for anyone to walk into a huge city and land a job at the mall. It may not pay much, like it would from making a corvette car deal, but it pays the bills for a scholarship athlete.
They cover Oklahoma athletics, even that sorry sport they call high school football up there. (No offense high school football players who live in Oklahoma.)
But that's mainly what those guys who work at that station do.
I'm sorry to say it, but I'll say it again and again.
College athletics is one step away from being as corrupt as professional leagues.
