C-Nyle

August 17, 2006

The Wichita Falls rapper, aka Cedric Gray, is doing just fine, according to a family member.
C-Nyle is awaiting trial on a federal case in which he's accused of drug distribution.
The day he was arrested by the local police the day they asked Hasting to remove his CD's from their shelves is still fresh on my mind.
I couldn't believe what I heard.
A recording artist said something somebody didn't like and the police asked Hastings to take it down.
I didn't know the police department had the audacity to do something like that. The song in question, "Mr. Officer Pt. 2," is Gray's view of the justice system in the area.
He called one cop a fag and the other a racist.
I say listen to the song yourself.
A reconnection with the CD this past weekend on a road trip spurred my interest in this latest blog.

For a rap album, C-Nyle's second CD, and his for that matter, his first CD, are both pretty good. It was surprising.
I didn't know someone in Wichita Falls had that much talent. It was amazing. The boy could sing too. His rap was raw, but so was the feel of the CD.
I didn't grow up in poverty or the East Side, but I'm guessing his CD captures what it was like.
And Gee Well, the producer on both projects, is "the Dr. Dre of Wichita Falls," according to G.P. the owner of the 10th street music business.
But I'm pulling for C-Nyle.
As a Wichita Falls artist, he is the best of what I've heard recently. The other stuff is under-developed junk.
Hopefully he skates on some charges and gets back to capturing the side of Wichita Falls nobody wants to talk about.
