3rd Wedding Anniversary

June 5, 2007

Today has been one heck of a day. My wife and I celebrated our third year of putting up with each other....just kidding honey.

The last three years have gone by fast. And boy, what a marriage. We both got married when we were 21, and I don't know if I could know someone as much as I know her. There's only so much so can understand about one person going into a lifelong relationship.

There are ups and downs, just like every other marriage, but if I could use one word to summarize the whole experience....fun.

That's right, it’s been fun. Three years is nothing like 10, or 20, or even 5 for that matter, but who would have thought two simple kids from small towns could have lasted that long, especially in today's society.

I wonder if it’s still true that about 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce. Who came up with that stat? Do 25 percent end in death, 10 percent end in attrition and the other 10 just end?

I can still remember our wedding day. We got married at Allendale Baptist by Warren Hall. What a good guy, that Mr. Hall.

Probably the best memory from the whole, or two best memories would be when my brother, the best man, and my wife’s sister, her maid-of-honor, walked out together, and the pianist moronically played the wedding march. What a hilarious moment.

The second would have to be when the real idiot, the groom, forgot his wallet on the couple's way to the airport. Nothing like seeing that trail of cans — coming from the hitch — returning to the parking lot....what a good day.

Now we have a dog, and a son....I wonder what else will happen along the way...I can say this though — I can't wait.
