NFL Picks
September 06, 2007The NFL season gets underway today...can't you read the bleeding excitement coming through this type?! The year doesn't really begin until I make it to football season, the rest I just sleep walk through.
The Saints will beat up the Colts on the ground tonight for a close win and a fantastic start to the regular season. No DTs and no Bob Sanders lead to a porous run defense. I have a love/hate relationship with Peyton Manning also. Love the guys desire and skill, hate his audibles.
I'm also a Pats fan, so I must hate the Colts. It's written somewhere in New England law, my birthplace. Just like the fact that I have to hate the Yankees. It doesn't say I can't like Roger Clemens, it just says I can't like the Yankees.
I think they gave my dad the manual to hand down to me when I was born.
Anyways, I have the Pats, picking with my heart of course, winning the Super Bowl. With my head, I'm picking the Charges. Too much talent that's too young. Tomlinson is a beast with or without the ball.
Here a rundown of division winners
- AFC East: Pats
- AFC North: Steelers
- AFC West: Chargers
- AFC South: Indianapolis
Wild Card Teams: Ravens and Titans...
There's always a surprise team and I think the Titans will squeeze into the Playoffs with a record of something like 9-7.
- NFC East: Cowboys
- NFC North: Bears
- NFC West: 49ers
- NFC South: Saints
Wild Card Teams: Seahawks and Packers...
Again, two more surprise picks with the Niners winning their division and the Packers making the playoffs with an 8-8 record.
The Niners are doing something right again, and I think they make it past the first round fighting for Bill Walsh. Frank Gore is going to be something. He's got a long injury history, but he's a bulldog on the field.
I pick the Packers because I'm a sentimental Brett Favre fan. One, because my wife thinks he's cute even though he has a horrible, hillbilly smile, and two, because he plays with passion and enjoyment that is easy to see (only if he's winning).
The Packers' D is growing up quickly, so their my dark horse for the year.
