Kind-of-Local Football Updates

October 16, 2008

So Colt McCoy, on Dan Patrick's Sports Illustratedvradio show, said he'll back next year to lead the charge for the Horns and won't test the NFL waters.

McCoy also said that Mack Brown hates it when he wears anything that isn't neutral - non opposing Big XII teams - colors around him, or burnt orange.

Patrick tried to bait Colt when he asked him something about his interest in next year's Red River Rivalry while he's in the NFL.

Colt didn't fall for it and said that he can't wait to play again in the game as a fourth-year starting QB in the game.

Colt sounds like a good guy. I've met his dad once during an interview a year or so ago, so I hope all the best for Colt and his family.

And if you didn't know already, Colt is on the cover of Sports Illustrated so go buy a copy and see if you can get it signed.

Note Two:

Dominic Rhodes, of MSU and Indianapolis Colts fame, is going to be starting in the short future (estimated 2 to 4 weeks) for the Colts at running back.

Their starter Joseph Addai has a busted up hamstring. Third-stringer Mike Hart went on the injured reserve list this week so the job is Rhodes to excel in.

Love it.

Rhodes, who I still think should have won the Super Bowl MVP when the Colts beat the Chicago Bears, gets to wear the starting pants in the Colts backfield this week against the Packers.

I would really like to ask him what its like standing next to Dominic Rhodes in a shotgun formation. And if you haven't pick him up for your fantasy football team - you know, just in case.

So root for the Colts this week and any week that Rhodes starts. Heck, cheer for them anyways.
