Outlandish MSU parking police
October 1, 2008
Sure, they're cops too.
Sure, they have jobs to do, but why don't MSU police get to go home at 5 p.m. like the rest of the working class. Hell, hang out at the little building you call a police station and wait till an emergency pops up.
Or, how about they focus their energy on other things besides dolling out tickets to people at night school.
I get that you should have a MSU parking pass to park on campus, but I thought the rules didn't apply after 5 p.m.
I'm attending one night class this semester. I didn't think my purchase of a overpriced MSU parking pass was necessary.
Then I get out of class Tuesday night and I find out that I better buy one or face the consequences of windshield debris. Such as the one you see here.
My buddy told me he got a parking ticket on a freakin' Saturday for parking in the wrong direction in a standard parking spot. "Two cars front ends should face each other at MSU," said the evil MSU police. "We don't like rear ends touching rear ends."
My suggestion. Anything after 5 p.m. and on the weekends should be free parking at the University off Taft. You don't have that many night classes, parking isn't a problem at MSU at nights.
Find something better to do than generate a quick revenue through parking tickets.
Don't get me wrong. I love MSU, I just think they need to rework their parking policies. There isn't enough when students/faculty need it, and there's too much when they don't like at night, when parking should be free.

I think it's after 6 in most places? That's been my experience on campus.
Sucks for your friend though - that's pretty ridiculous. Who knows that rule? No one.
