I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack
April 30, 2007Party Over....my week of vacation has ended.
I can't possibly explain how much fun it was, I won't even try. Actually, I didn't even take any pictures of anything although I wanted to.
What did happen is now I am inspired. I want to do something important now. I have a couple of projects in mind that I really want to tackle.
I have a plan.
One of my friends suggested that my escapism has something to do with my trying to get over my ex-girlfriend. I laughed outloud at that. Trust me...it didn't take that long to get over her. Certainly not the two months that it's been.
Actually....the escapism I've had for about three weeks total (Austin State Soccer trip, Vacation, and few days of State Golf/Tennis) have done nothing but recharge my batteries for this job.
Some of you may not know this...but it's not all fun and games up here at the newspaper. There is a lot of work-place stress. It's been a stressful time over the last couple of months.
Trying to adjust to a new boss and short staff hasn't been the easiest thing in the world to do. I think we've done a good job overall with the photo coverage of things, but then something will happen with the paper and the creative vision I have tried so hard to convey in my work will just get butchered in the paper.
That's frustrating. I feel like I've done a better outward job of dealing with that...but inside, it just builds up on top of all of the rest of the stress from being here. Just the nature of the buisness...that's why they give us vacation time.
That's why I've been trying to escape for the last couple of weeks.
I love being out on the road. I love a sense of adventure. I'm excited about the regional trips that I get to take with a reporter on occasion. That's what I long for so much more than sitting around the office waiting for something to happen.
That is part of my plan. That is part of the project I want to begin working on.
Don't ask me what it is though yet...I have no idea, just know that it's going to happen.

unexplainable, eh? haha...what did you not get to take photos of that you wanted to? you should go again, i think. i cannot wait to see where the inspiration leads.
