My first Mardi Gras

March 1, 2009

Sadly -- as if this even needs to be said -- Mardi Gras and law school do not go together. Sorta like chicken fried steak and something really, really healthy (like some of that Kashi fruit and nut cereal, I guess).

Here I am, in New Orleans, about 6 blocks from St. Charles Avenue, which is Mardi Gras central, and I didn't attend one parade. I drank not one hurricane. I ate no King Cake. I flashed no one. I got no beads. Instead, I was studying in a coffeeshop way far away from all the parades and hoopla.

The way I look at it, I've got two more years to enjoy Mardi Gras madness. Right now, I'm a first year law student. So, no hurricanes and beads. For now.
