Live from New York
May 17, 2009Greetings from the Big Apple!! I have arrived -- safe and sound -- in the big city.
I'm up here for the next 13 weeks to work as a law clerk in midtown Manhattan. As if it needs to be said, there's a HUGE difference between feeding the animals back on the farm/ranch in Paducah -- which I was doing 2 days ago -- and the hustle and bustle of NYC.
It's going to be a very exciting time. First, I've never lived in New York City. In fact, the first time I ever set foot in town was when I flew up for my interview in February. Although I'm not a first-timer when it comes to big city living -- I've lived in LA, Boston and Austin -- this is THE big city, and it may take a little getting used to.
Oh, and there's that other thing -- my new job. While I've been part of the working world for decades, one of those decades as a journalist, this summer will essentially be starting over for me in a new realm. I just finished my first year of law school down at Tulane in New Orleans, and now, I've got to show my new bosses just how much law I know.
It's truly going to be an adventure in many respects this summer, and I'll try to take you along for the ride.
