The turquoise girl
May 18, 2009Not only am I the only person in the city with a tan, but I'm apparently also the only one that knows how to wear color.
I had to throw on a jacket the first day I was here because it was so cold. Well, that little jacket happened to be bright turquoise (which is more tasteful than it sounds). Anyway, I walked down the street and realized I stuck out like a bright blue sore thumb. Everyone else was either in black, grey, dark hunter green or beige.
Where did all the color go? I always joke with one of my friends down at Tulane who's from NY that he needs to expand his color palete because he's always so morose looking. He explained that New Yorkers just dress dark. Makes everyone seem tougher.
Well, I don't dress dark. There's not one article of clothing I have that would allow me to blend in and disappear into the darkness of the city. So, I guess I'll just be the turquoise girl.
