Perry could get better advice down at the pool hall

January 26, 2010

Rick Perry isn't going to meet with editorial boards to seek the endorsement of Texas newspapers.
Our gov says he has better ways to spend his time.

Personally, I don't give a rat's ass what the guy does.
Yet at the same time I also don't care what Kay Bailey Hutchsion does either.
Neither will get my vote because I will never again vote for a Republican governor or president.
George W. Bush made sure of that.

But Perry might want to turn to an old pool hall philosopher for some election advice.

Ann Richards made sure I wouldn't ever vote for a Democrat candidate for governor. Rick Perry has done more for Texas than any of his former or current alternatives could/would ever do. and who cares who the Texas newspapers endorse--since when has that ever influenced anyone's vote? Lemme guess--you're a Kinky supporter? Get real, Nick, your liberal blinders won't let you admit Perry has done an outstanding job as governor.

For the 1st time that comes to mind, and probably the last time ever, I agree with Rick Perry about something. Why schmooze with editorial boards of rags like the TRN? I remember in November '08, it endorsed McCain - not surprising, but what was telling was the TRN's explanation for the endorsement: basically, the paper said that it thought the locals would vote for McC, so it would endorse him. In other words, no exercise of any independent editorial judgment, just an echo chamber for whatever the paper thinks to be prevailing local sentiment (with special attention to advertisers, it goes without saying). Such journalistic courage!
