A Star is Born

May 25, 2009

The NBA's next star rose last week among the tattoo-covered members of his own team.
And if those same team members could find a way to execute an inbounds pass in the waning moments of a game, the Denver Nuggets could be up 3-0 and heading into Monday night's Game 4 one step away from their first NBA Finals appearance.
Instead, they're in a must-win game, needing a victory to avoid a 3-1 hole.
Regardless, Carmelo Anthony's star is on the rise.
The addition of Chauncey Billups and the subtraction of Allen Iverson helped the already prolific scorer round into the go-to guy the team needs and the franchise hasn't had since the days of Alex English.
Anthony, who's almost never in the conversation when the Kobes and LeBrons come up, has a chance to change all that with three more victories to eliminate the Lakers.
Now, if he can just get the rest of his teammates to come along for the ride...
